The Star
A selection from The Doorkeeper: To find out who wrote the poem and why, you'll have to read the story!
The Star!
Look at me! I’m a star! I’m whitewashed clean, cleaner by far, Than my contemporaries, both near and far, Look at me! I’m a star!
Look at me! I’m so meek! Enduring with patience those replete, With the low self-esteem that leaves them weak, Look at me! I’m so meek!
Look at me! I’m so fine! Isn’t God lucky to have those divine, Creatures with talents as dazzling as mine, Look at me! I’m so fine!
Look at me! I shine in the night! A starry ball of fire, God’s great delight, No other in the galaxy beams with such light, Look at me! I shine in the night!
Look at me! I’m so great! Isn’t it wonderful, or is it just fate, That I should exist at this timely date, Look at me! I’m so great!
Look at me! Why am I here? What happened to me, God’s little dear, Thrust into the abyss and filled with such fear. Look at me! Why am I here?
Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. KJV
