Butterscotch Walnut Bread

Preheat oven to 350˚

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 cup reduced fat buttermilk
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a ceramic bowl; set aside.

Beat egg and brown sugar until light; add butter and blend. Add to flour mixture; add buttermilk and stir until all ingredients are blended. Add nuts.

Pour batter into a greased 9 inch loaf pan; bake at 350˚ for approximately 50 minutes, or until done. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.

This recipe makes one loaf of bread.
